To  help you to make the most informed decision you can I have provided this page to give you any additional information on the products I use in making my art. This is not a brand endorsement, merely information you may find useful if are having a debate about which surface you would prefer your art get displayed upon.

Fredrix Stretched Canvas. Available in 8x10, 11x14, 16x20. These canvases are stapled on the side and generally require framing after the art is complete for proper display. A standard frame of finished wood will do however to accommodate for the extra depth of the canvas additional equipment purchased from

or another fine art store or framing shop would be required. Canvas is not smooth and  therefore some extremely fine detail may be lost in the tooth of the canvas.

Fredrix Stretched Canvas (Oval, Round) these canvas are considerably more expensive and would require custom frames.  Please consult with either your local framing shop, or the artists for estimates on canvas prices and framing options.
Canvas Board is remarkably more durable than papers while giving the illusion of a stretched canvas. Because it is as it states essentially a canvas stretched across a board, the deep frames needed for stretched canvas are not necessary.  It is considerably toothier than stretched canvas giving considerable difficulty to the artist going for extra fine detail.

Artist Papers come in varying weight, sizes and tooth grades, hot or cold press papers have different absorption abilities and  may not be suitable for mixed wet media such as paint.  These papers are good however for  graphite, charcoal, pen & ink, colored pencil, and pastel.  Please refer to the media page when choosing a media to use.  If choosing to use paper for a fine detail painting please be advised that certain papers may buckle and ripple.

Water Color Paper

These Papers are designed to resist buckling and warping under the stress created by soaking them with media such as water color and acrylic paints. They can be hot or cold pressed which will affect the amount of tooth they will have. These papers cannot be bought in bulk and need special care and storage so as not to get damaged when the piece is in progress.  These papers are generally 30x 46 inches and can be cut down, however, they range from 9 to 14$ per sheet. They do not have the rough texture of canvas and a fine detail artist can achieve maximum detail on these papers.
