Evelyn is a kind woman out east who breeds, raises and shows Egyptian Maus. I met her in Indiana at TICA's On Safari show. She had won two gift certificates I had put in the raffle and in her flurry in between rings I got a glimpse into the fast paced world where she tries to maintain some resemblance of order. In between running cats to rings and helping other exhibitors Evelyn gave me a brief but very powerful image of who she wanted me to draw for her, her passion and grief for Zahra was obvious to me although I'm sure she'd like to think that she kept her cool. What was to follow was a memorial that in the end, I'm glad I could live up to her expectations, and I could hear in her voice over the phone as you can read gave her much relief . |
